Vanilla Content/leveling

Really not bad at all. Your hardest challenge is coming up with the gold to train abilities, or if you’re a melee class, keeping up with weapons to actually be able to solo quest’s. I can’t recall any quests not working, but then again I wasn’t paying that much attention as I was just trying to get to 70 asap.

The faction imbalance complicates things, at first it was horrible (70H/30A) but since then they’ve given incentives which seem to have helped a lot. Most horde didn’t bother me as I was questing so it wasn’t an enormous problem. All in all, the leveling was very doable and even somewhat enjoyable if you have some friends with you.

PVP

Hotfire garbage. Only words I can use to explain this. I rolled alliance for the instant queue’s, yet 90% of the BG’s Ive played in have been 20 minutes of my team afk’ing, getting stomped, or both. I personally prefer PVP over PVE especially in this expansion, but on this server I can’t even bring myself to waste that much time getting stomped. This is probably the only server I’ve played on where the PVP is so bad that I spend more time progressing through PVE content.

Arena’s are great as you’d expect. You can nearly queue up at any time and youll get a pop. Obviously queue’ing at peak times will yield more teams and different comps to play against, whereas queue’ing at downtimes you may be playing the same 2-3 teams. Either way, having extremely active arena on a tbc server is very cool.

PVE

Now we know Warmane isn’t going the pre-nerf route. Meaning some items will be more powerful then they should be this early, certain talents being stronger, etc. All this makes current content significantly easier than it would be if it was prenerf. Given that information, I can tell you from my experience that PVE here isn’t all that great. However, the dev’s are very quick to fix high priority problems, ill list a couple from kara that I noticed:

  • The book for the quest wouldn’t respawn after grabbing. (Fixed)
  • Attumen wouldn’t charge sometimes, and his damage seems very undertuned. (Charge fixed, he stills hits like a bitch)
  • Shade wouldn’t use blizzard (Fixed)
  • Curator despawns randomly after you get him to about 97% sometimes. (Not fixed, afaik.)

I’m sure there’s some I missed, but it seems they really polished a lot of the fights. To actually make progressive content pre-nerf is extremely difficult, and I’m not gonna act like that is ruining my experience because it isn’t. I’m still having fun, still getting blasted with nostalgia. Warmane get’s criticized the most for its lackluster pve content, but comparing it to Hellfire, they’re just barely a little bit behind.

Economy/Professions

Well, its no secret that there are a lot of people playing here, obviously not 15k at peak, but a lot. Gathering professions can be extremely annoying to level, especially at peak times. People have been saying that the node timers are bugged, but I personally just think theres too many people looking for the same nodes. They should increase the timer, or the node count overall to help combat this. When a server has as many players as this one, changes like that need to be made to help everyone, and hopefully they’ll see that.

The economy fluctuates constantly. One day you’ll see a primal fire up for 50g, the next they’ll be down to 30-35g. Its pretty unpredictable and as you can expect from a server this large, things like gems, recipes, and primals can be grossly overpriced. This is all from an alliance perspective, horde could be different. Needless to say, you better be finishing all of your outland questlines to help you fund some of these. While most things are overpriced, it’s relatively easy to farm gold here.

TL:DR PROS/CONS:

Pros:

  • Large population at all times.
  • Very active pvp
  • Level 70 population very active. Extremely easy to hop into dungeons/bg’s at anytime with any gear.

Cons:

  • Mediocre PVE content
  • Faction imbalance (not overall, but at 70, the horde is miles ahead of the alliance in progression and pvp in general.)
  • Gm’s talking in global chat. (I personally hate this, even tho its 5x leveling, I’d like everything else to seem as blizzlike as possible, and gm’s communicating in global seems unprofessional to me.)
  • The community. The fact that I see people saying “LF2M SLABS 2.2K GS+” makes me want to literally set a box full of a puppy’s on fire. Gearscore is an atrocious addon that really helped fuel the toxic community warmane has today. Please, if you’re going to play here, don’t fucking download it.
  • P2W shop coming in the somewhat near future. Play on Gummy’s/Medivh if this makes it unplayable for you.

Personal Opinion

All in all, I’m having a great time here. I’m the type of person who would never touch p2w servers (spent 1k+ hours on Lordaeron, Kronos, and Elysium) but TBC is just my favorite expansion. The quality really isn’t nearly as bad as people here try to make it out to be, and playing here with so many other people makes for a great time. I get why people hate them for forcing you to pay $10, it is shitty. But if you can look past that, pay 10 measly dollars, you’ll realize its worth it.

Even though this entire sub right now is Gummy shills vs Warmane shills (just me tbh) just take this review for what it is. I didn’t lie about one thing, I acknowledged this server is faaaaar from perfect, but it is A LOT of fun to play on. That’s why we’re all playing, right, FUN? Some people prefer extremely challenging content, which is cool, but others don’t need that challenge to have fun in TBC.

If you read the whole thing, I appreciate it. Tried to format it as best as I could. And whether you’re playing on gummy’s or warmane, just be glad that we have all these options compared to just a year ago when we had close to nothing but 5+ year old servers.

REVIEW

First of all, the idea disabling the dungeon finder really increase players being more social.

Staff is progressisvely releasing content, all raids and dungeons works fine, just some of them have some kind of unimportant bugs, that also they will resolve them I’m pretty sure. Icecrown Citadel and Trial of the Crusader are fully working.

There are still a lot of players that make new characters everyday, so you will have with who to do your level dungeons or quests. ( Actually low level dungeons like RFK and DM are made kinda everyday by a lot of new players )

There are a lot of twinks, so that means the queue average is 2-5 min. ( Also you don’t have chances until you are well geared for a twink wars )

Is not a p2w (pay2win) server. Yes, you can buy a max lvl character from other players using trade system for real money, but to be honest…the prices are just f*** huge.

The community can troll you sometime and if you’re using Global Chat, you can get easy information or a lot of an*l.

Guilds are very friendly and serious on raids with discord servers, calendar raids and most of them are 25+ years old.

Scripting is really not a problem anymore. Since 2016 they released a lot of changelogs with fixes. Pathfinding works how it should work. Raids and dungeons have very low chances to collate bugs.

The population dropped somehow since last year.

In conclusion

  • Friendly community.
  • Due low latency, means lag free.
  • Population is quite good 3000 – 5000+ online.
  • Working scripts.
  • No pay 2 win.
  • FREE TO PLAY MAN!
